The Manager of curriculum development is responsible for the design and
development of innovative training solutions for our field sales
associates and field managers. You will be responsible for conducting
needs analysis, determining practical design solutions, leading
implementation strategies, writing concise training documents,
(participant guides, job aids, leaders guides, resource guides,
PowerPoints, eLearning story boards, etc.) and supporting the training
of the field-based training managers.
You will work with internal business partners as well as subject matter
experts to ensure consistent and practical designs that adhere to adult
learning design principles. Training solutions are developed in a fast
paced home office environment. The ideal candidate will be a
self-motivated, has strong intellectual and analytic skills, is
organized and a detail-oriented team player capable of working
independently or collaborating on instructional designs.
Responsibilities also include:
- Design and develop blended learning solutions from inception to
completion for delivery in-person and virtually by the Managers of
Agency Training in the Agency Distribution field model. Includes:
eLearning self-study courses, distance learning Sametimes, training
materials needed for business related projects, participant materials,
leader's guides, and supporting materials (handouts, job aids, resources
etc.) necessary for the implementation of local, virtual, cluster, and
centralized training experiences.
- General Project Management skills and ability to manage multiple
projects simultaneously in a task and target oriented environment with
an emphasis on speed to market.
- Monitoring the impact of the training programs by assessing
measurement results of learning initiatives, implementing enhancements
as needed.
- Partner with Agency Distribution Communications area to develop
communication strategy to effectively promote and announce training
programs and resources.
- Partner with members of other departments (product partners, technology
partners, field support business units, etc.) to ensure quality,
practicality and consistency of training materials developed and
communicated.
- To ensure field validation on designs, coordinate and collaborate with
field review teams to obtain feedback on overall design as well as on
materials in development. Field reviewers include Directors of Agency
Training, Managers of Agency Training, subject matter experts and
Centralized Training staff.
- Partner with the Implementation Team on supporting the delivery of
programs (e.g., distribution of materials for local implementation,
virtual train-the-trainer sessions, teleconferences, etc.).
- Partner with and occasionally direct the work of other instructional
designers, ensuring synchronicity of material, content and concepts
being developed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Other responsibilities:
- Coaching and counseling staff as needed
- Contribute to Performance Reviews for staff
- Light travel may be required as needed
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years experience in instructional design with exposure to sales
training development, management training development, eLearning and
experience leading others.
- College (4 year) degree required.
- Experience designing and developing web-based eLearning and virtual
training solutions.
- Demonstrated understanding of Agency Distribution's field force and
ability to work with field management and field producers.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment; task and target date
oriented with emphasis on speed to market.
- Ability to identify and determine instructional design strategies
including the use of technology.
- Knowledge of instructional design fundamentals especially adult
learning and accelerated learning techniques.
- Demonstrated strong verbal, written, interpersonal communication skills
as well as effective presentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects using standard project management
concepts and tools.
- Ability to manage expectations and business relationships with staff,
superiors, vendors, business partners, and others.
- Ability to coordinate the work of others; demonstrated leadership
skills.
- Ability to 'think out of the box' - as a creative, innovative,
designer/training developer.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Lectora or other eLearning
authoring tools, Lotus Sametime or another virtual delivery medium.
- Experience in the insurance or financial services industry preferred.
- Position is located in Newark, NJ.
